La Romana.- La Romana has emerged as one of the most popular destinations for international tourists during Holy Week, with hotel occupancy rates surpassing 90%. Ana GarcÃa-Sotoca, executive director of the La Romana-Bayahibe Tourism Cluster and Hotel Association, confirmed the figures, highlighting the area’s enduring appeal thanks to its stunning beaches, renowned golf courses, and vibrant cultural offerings.
Visitors from the United States, Italy, Germany, France, and Argentina make up the bulk of the tourist influx, reflecting the destination’s broad international reach. GarcÃa-Sotoca emphasized the tourism sector’s strong commitment to ensuring visitor safety, particularly during this busy travel period.
Close coordination between tourism businesses and local security forces has been key to maintaining a peaceful environment. The executive director noted that logistical support was provided to all security operations in the area. This impressive occupancy rate not only boosts the local economy but also reaffirms La Romana’s position as a leading Caribbean tourist hub—a trend expected to continue throughout the season.
