Santo Domingo.- Tourism Minister David Collado continued his intensive international promotion campaign with key events in Houston and Chicago, engaging over 700 travel agents and tour operators to boost tourism to the Dominican Republic. Speaking at a road show in Houston, where more than 450 industry professionals gathered, Collado highlighted Texas’s importance, with 156,000 tourists traveling to the Dominican Republic from the state in 2024 alone.

The promotional tour also took Collado to Chicago, where he met with over 250 travel agents and tour operators. Tourist arrivals from Chicago are projected to reach 138,000 this year, further cementing the U.S. as the Dominican Republic’s largest source market.

Collado emphasized the success of road shows as a key promotional strategy since the start of his administration, noting that 40% of U.S. tourists now travel to the country through agents or tour operators. His efforts aim to ensure continued growth and solidify the Dominican Republic as a top vacation destination.
