Punta Cana.- At the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE 2025), Minister of Culture Roberto Ángel Salcedo underscored the rising importance of film tourism as a powerful tool to elevate the Dominican Republic’s global image and attract foreign investment.

Salcedo stated that beyond existing tax incentives like those outlined in Article 39, the government is taking concrete steps to strengthen the country’s reputation as a top-tier film destination. He cited the current filming of a movie in Samaná starring Jennifer Lopez as an example of how international productions help promote the nation. He also noted the impact of past visits from stars such as Sandra Bullock, Brad Pitt, and Mark Wahlberg.

According to Salcedo, celebrity endorsements and on-location shoots play a key role in attracting global attention and tourism. He emphasized that when stars share positive experiences about the country, it boosts international interest.

The Minister also confirmed ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and the General Directorate of Film (DGCINE) to identify new opportunities that not only promote the Dominican Republic as a filming destination but also elevate local filmmaking talent on the international stage.
