La Romana.- The Dominican Republic, through the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) and the La Romana Bayahibe Tourism Cluster (CTRB), successfully concluded its participation in the 2024 DEMA Show, the world’s leading diving industry event, held from November 19 to 22 in Las Vegas, Nevada. With nearly 7,000 attendees and 1,000 exhibitors, the DEMA Show serves as a critical platform for global diving tourism promotion.

Ana García-Sotoca, executive director of CTRB and AHRB, emphasized the importance of this event in showcasing La Romana as a premier Caribbean diving destination. She noted that the show provided a valuable opportunity to engage with international diving operators and spotlight the unique underwater experiences La Romana offers. García-Sotoca further highlighted the region’s diverse tourism options and commitment to protecting marine ecosystems, positioning La Romana for continued growth in the diving sector.

La Romana stands out for its rich marine biodiversity, which includes vibrant coral reefs, historical shipwrecks, and captivating underwater caves. The destination also boasts a robust tourism infrastructure, with over 10 certified diving operators and more than 5,700 hotel rooms. The area’s focus on sustainability, including initiatives to preserve marine environments, reinforces its status as a leader in responsible tourism. Over the past five years, La Romana has seen a 30% increase in diving visitors, reflecting the growing appeal of its sustainable and diverse diving experiences.
