Santo Domingo.- Rafael Feliz Germán, Chairman of Karisma Hotels & Resorts, emphasized three critical challenges the Dominican Republic must address to boost tourism investment and growth: urban territorial planning, hotel workforce training, and increasing flight volumes to the country.
Feliz Germán acknowledged the factors that have contributed to the country’s success as a tourist destination, such as the quality of its people, security, infrastructure, and state support. However, he stressed the need for improved training of the hotel workforce, particularly in technical skills and languages, to enhance the customer experience.
He also called for a comprehensive urban and tourism land use planning strategy, using Mexico’s Riviera Maya as an example, and highlighted the importance of increasing flight connectivity by attracting more airlines and offering incentives to expand tourism arrivals.
