Santo Domingo.- During the business forum “Dominican Republic: Strategic Caribbean Platform for Spanish Investment,” held as part of the Ibero-American Key Conference Series, Minister of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs, Ito Bisonó, presented the Dominican Republic as a top destination for investment. He emphasized the country’s strategic advantages in sectors such as tourism, energy, free trade zones, and agribusiness, while highlighting opportunities for Spanish investors in both established and emerging industries like healthcare.

The event featured notable speakers including Miguel Garrido, Vice President of CEOE and President of CEIM; Jaime Montalvo, International Director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce; and Dominican Ambassador to Spain, Tony Raful. Montalvo praised the Dominican Republic’s strategic location, infrastructure, and trade agreements, calling it an ideal gateway to markets such as the U.S. Raful noted the country’s access to over 1.200 million consumers and its strong 2023 performance, having attracted over $4.300 million in foreign investment.

Bisonó pointed to the country’s economic resilience, projecting 5% growth for 2024. He credited public-private partnerships and strategic initiatives such as the Logistics Centers Law, Manzanillo industrial project, and Punta Cana Free Trade Zone for enhancing competitiveness. He concluded by positioning the Dominican Republic as a stable, modern economy and a platform for accessing global markets, especially with growing ties to both the European Union and the United States.
