Dominican airline Arajet is focused on accelerating its expansion from its hub at Punta Cana Airport, so it has requested eight new international routes.

This was announced by the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) in Resolution 108-2025, which states that it will hold a public hearing on a request submitted by Arajet to expand its international route network.

The request, which was included as an agenda item at the JAC meeting held on May 9, contemplates amending the company’s Economic Authorization Certificate (CAE) No. 25.

Arajet intends to add nine new international routes to its current certificate, valid until August 2027. The routes contemplated are:

Punta Cana – Córdoba

Punta Cana – Montevideo

Punta Cana – Rio de Janeiro

Punta Cana – Cali

Punta Cana – Mendoza

Punta Cana – Asunción

Punta Cana – Rosario

Punta Cana – Belo Horizonte

Santo Domingo – Washington D.C. (IAD)

According to the document, the airline plans to begin operating these routes in July 2025 with between three and four flights per week, using 10 Boeing 737-8 aircraft with a capacity for 189 passengers (18 of which are still pending delivery).

By the second half of 2025, Arajet plans to offer nearly 289,000 seats and carry approximately 205,000 passengers on these new routes.
