Vancouver, Canada.- In a stunning display of talent and national pride, Dominican model, actress, and dancer Ángel Marie Polanco has once again commanded the runway at Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) 2025, marking her fourth consecutive year as the sole representative from the Dominican Republic at this major international fashion event.
Polanco’s consistent presence at VFW is a testament to her remarkable skill and dedication, solidifying her status as a leading figure not only in fashion but also as a vibrant cultural ambassador for her Caribbean nation.
“Participating in this show is an invaluable experience,” Polanco stated. “It allows me to connect with designers, models, strategists, journalists, and fashion communicators from around the globe. More importantly, it gives me a platform to proudly showcase the richness of Dominican culture through social media and every step I take on the runway.”
This year, Polanco graced the catwalk in exquisite designs from a diverse group of acclaimed fashion artists, including AY Lelum, Madalein Nelson, Cassandra Bramasco, Reihani Design, Mivinna, Julie Ehme, Eduardo Ramos, Parang Hanbok, Colectiva Nudo, and the atelier Nameless Garments. Their innovative and original creations provided a powerful canvas for Polanco’s captivating presence.
Having moved to Canada in 2020, Ángel Marie has relentlessly pursued her dreams. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Marketing from West Canada University while simultaneously refining her craft in dance and modeling, building an impressive international career.
Beyond her striking runway presence, Polanco has become a pivotal Dominican cultural ambassador in Vancouver. Further amplifying her role, she will also be reporting live from the Dominican Parade in New York in 2025 for the second year, through the television and radio station Bonches Latinos NY.
A graduate of the National Dance School (Endanza) in the Dominican Republic, Polanco’s journey in the performing arts has been marked by significant achievements. She has walked for renowned Dominican designers such as Giannina Azar, Melkis Díaz, Marisol Henríquez, and Damaris Rubio, under the direction of Felipe de León and Starlin de Holma.
Adding to her distinguished 2025 calendar, the versatile artist also participated in a prestigious Dominican Ballet gala in Spain in January, produced by Héctor Farías. The event was held during the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, organized by IFEMA.
Vancouver Fashion Week, a six-day immersive experience for fashion enthusiasts and industry insiders, has established itself as a global platform celebrated for its commitment to diversity, sustainability, and the promotion of emerging designers. The event’s focus on multiculturalism and innovation makes it a fitting stage for Polanco to represent her heritage with such distinction. VFW’s dedication to social and environmental causes, integrating sustainable practices and traditional craftsmanship, further aligns with a conscious and authentic approach to fashion that Polanco embodies.
